Podcasting Passwords

I had created podcasts before so it was interesting to work with a different front end. It's great to see so many new sites that can open the opportunities for using the web. I had first used audio in the multimedia course at Lesley and was immediately thrilled with how easy it was. I embraced using Audacity and since have taught it to many people and encouraged them to use audio for a variety of uses. Primary students in particular really like working with audio. I wasn't so thrilled with Podomatic.com.  I spent a few days working on my speech - the idea came out of a class I was teaching on intro. to computers. Many of our teachers are still pretty green on technology and I realized that password information is pretty basic but very valuable to everyone - more and more as time goes on and we're creating more accounts and putting more things in applications and online. But the podomatic site didn't work for me to record at all - I just couldn't get it to record. I was disappointed because I thought that would be a really easy way for many teachers to get online quickly. So I resorted to Audacity and recorded my speech there. Then I uploaded it - it took me many tries but I finally got it uploaded. But I couldn't get it posted for anything. I spent hours trying to get it to work. So I posted it to our podcast server:

I finally decided to try in a different venue - maybe something at work was blocking it or causing the problem. So I came home and gave podomatic another try and managed to get it to work. Since it was already uploaded, I just needed to get the posting step done. It finally worked. So I don't know if it was the time of day or the network access or what. Anyways, my site is: http://kyz.podomatic.com

I'll have to try it again at work sometime in the future and see if it works better. Sometimes its just a matter of them working the bugs out but I'm reluctant to encourage teachers to use something that is so problematic. Plus it had some inappropriate material out there so it isn't something I'd see using in our schools. I wish there would be a TeacherPodomatic like TeacherTube.
